“the artblog” is nominated for the Best Art Blog Category. The description given by the nominator is “Roberta Fallon and Libby Rosof bridge the gap between ordinary people and art.”
First of all, the BlogNet Awards Team did not even realize there WAS a Society of North American Goldsmiths, let alone that they were conferring in Philadelphia, so right off the bat, you know that we broadened our horizons while reviewing this blog. Roberta Fallon and Libby Rosof have assembled a great team and an inspiring blog examining the art scene (get it…art…scene?) primarily in Philly, but without fear of going international. Rosof’s background as an educator comes through in this subtle seminar on what we really ought to know about art but perhaps may not. It’s inviting and entertaining and accessible both to those who love art and those who are learning to love it. Don’t rush through this site. Take a moment to ask yourself when you last felt like Martin Kippenberger, standing in the corner with your nose to the wall, or whether or not you’ve seen the same lonely highway in New Mexico that Robert Frank saw. That’s what this blog does. It brings art home to your life.
